Mukwano Coffee Roasters
Change your coffee drinking habit into a coffee tasting experience with Mukwano Coffee Roasters
If you haven't gathered, we are predominantly a coffee roastery. We pride in the coffee fruit and the experience you get in that morning cup. In our coffee shop you can find the typical coffee drinks but we use less syrups and more naturally focused syrup that help you focus less on the sweetness and more on the coffee in your cup. Why is that you ask? Why is specialty coffee so expensive and what does specialty even mean? Essentially, specialty coffee beans are of a higher-grade coffee bean (typically arabica coffee) than most typical beans found in stores (predominantly robusta coffee) as well as being cared for differently during processing and roasting. It also means that the cost is more for this coffee when it was still unroasted/green. Coffee is graded by quality and priced accordingly. Price and quality are also a result of where the coffee came from for example Central America, Asia, Africa, etc.
Coffee takes a long time to grow, process, and then roast. A lot of care and
thought goes into a roast profile for each origin, and even before that the
growing and processing of coffee beans takes a lot of work on the farmer’s
part! Most beans pass through approximately 16-20 processing steps before they
hit your cup. In the case of our beans, the extra price also reflects that the
farmers are being paid more fairly for their beans, work, and dedication to
assuring you get the highest quality coffee bean in your cup. Any of our beans
with an "FT" are certified fair trade and we can be assured the
farmers are getting the fair wage they are working hard to earn. All of our
beans are organic/natural and reflect that no extra processing and chemicals
were used to boost the growth process.

For this blend we went a little out of the normal sphere of exclusively Africa and ventured into the Country of Bolivia. This Bolivian Selva Verde bean paired up with our Sweet Lily Ethiopian brings out some great flavors and tastes that can be experienced only from Mukwano Coffee. I wanted to blend some beans that would change the experience of the drinker from the normal cup of coffee. Espresso Blend
Mukwano Coffee offers a fantastic darker end medium roasted blend for our Espresso blend. We have taken a couple approaches to our espresso blend depending on seasonal availability of beans.
We offer either a great mix of our Brazil Natural Yellow Catuai mixed with our Sweet Lily Ethipoin or our Uganda Sipi Falls mixed with the Sweet Lily Ethipoin. Both of these blends offer a very similar flavor profile and testing experience. This blend highlights the medium acidity, nut, and marshmallow of the Uganda/Brazil while being amazingly complimented by the jasmine, rose, and berry of the Ethiopian. The balance and experience in the cup is perfect and we hope you love it as much as we do!The Gut Check
This blend was specifically created for the Gut Check Podcast. This blend is much like the podcast, in that, it isnt a podcast for listening to at all, but more of a product that you consume.
The flavor profile you can expect are like the contents of the podcast itself; a flavor profile from cigar loving, energy drink reviewing, Downton Abby watching flavors, Re:Rapture novelists. It comes with notes of smoke, tabacco, buourbon, and toffee from our Sumatra, mixed with some of the nice acidity and floral flavors pulled from both our ethipian and honduras beans. You might even detect a hint of Ultragest*. This blend is a delicate cup with lively overtones, that not only taste amazing, but also gives you that energy boost you need, like a caffine kick from an old man with titanium knees.*Ultragest is not a real thing and is not contained in any of our blends...it's an inside joke
